New Feature for 2020 – Industry Judging Panel

Tourism NI will be recruiting a panel of industry experts from the fields of media, business, food & drink, tourism development, customer service and marketing.

On Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd April 2020, the panel will judge shortlisted entries in the Experience and Business categories.

These sessions will take place in Grand Central Hotel, Belfast.

You will receive a separate email after submission with the judging date for your category.

Entrants wishing to proceed to stage two must be available on the specified date/s.

Carolyn Boyd – Industry Development Manager, Tourism NI

Carolyn Boyd Industry Development manager Tourism NI. Prior to Tourism Carolyn has 25 years’ experience working in training and recruitment. Her current role as Industry Development Manager includes the delivery of the Tourism Enterprise Development (TED) training programme, delivery of the annual Tourism awards and skills development.

Orla Farren – PR and Communications Manager, Tourism NI

Tourism NI Co-Judge

Orla has 25 years’ experience in tourism, marketing and communications and is responsible for Tourism NI’s corporate communications and consumer PR activity in Northern Ireland including the Northern Ireland Tourism Awards.
Orla has managed PR and communications for Tourism NI for a wide range of high profile activity and events including, most recently, the launch of the new destination brand Embrace a Giant Spirit and The 148th Open at Royal Portrush.
Orla has also led successful PR campaigns to promote the Giro d’Italia in Northern Ireland, three Irish Opens and the launch of Titanic Belfast.

Angelina Fusco – Board Member, Tourism NI

NI Tourism Awards Judging Panel 

Angelina is an independent media and journalism training consultant in Northern Ireland.  She works with Channel56, a locally based communications company, helping individuals and organisations communicate more effectively.  She spent more than 30 years in BBC Northern Ireland and held a variety of roles.  For 15 years she was Head of the Television ‘BBC Newsline’ production team providing coverage of all breaking news stories and live programmes on special events.  She was a trainer at the BBC’s College of Journalism in London.  She was awarded an Ochberg Fellowship on Journalism and Trauma from the Dart Centre, Columbia University, NYC.  Angelina is also a member of Ofcom’s Content Board, London and the Northern Ireland Committee of the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Terry McCartney – Board Member, Tourism NI

NI Tourism Awards Judging Panel

Terry McCartney is the owner and manager of the multi award winning Belmore Court & Motel, Enniskillen.  He is responsible for the day to day leadership and management of the 60-bedroom, four star guest accommodation as well as its sister property The Lodge At Lough Erne, a luxury self-catering home on the grounds of Lough Erne Resort.  He was a lecturer in Hospitality and Computers at the South West College in Fermanagh and prior to that he held positions as a Field Sales Executive for Finlay Hydrascrees and Promotion and Sales Executive for Dillon Bass.  In 2011, Terry was appointed High of Sheriff of County Fermanagh for the year.  He is also a rugby referee, an amateur photographer and in January 2018 he trekked to the top of Kilimanjaro for charity.
